Call from Seminary Update

Sunday, April 23, 2017

We have been informed last week that there are more congregations requesting Pastors from the seminary than there are graduates. There are 150 congregations requesting Pastors, but only 100 graduates. Out of the 100 graduates, 50 have requested an associate Pastor position. Along with the other requirements of our church and requests made by the graduates, it was determined that there were no suitable matches for our church this year.

At this point we have requested a new call list from the district and expect to receive the list in two weeks. The call committee will evaluate these Pastors and we will be attempting a call from the field.

Last year around this time we started the call process. The call committee met for about 6 months to gather information about our church and the type of Pastor we were looking for. Now that we already have this information, we can potentially attempt multiple calls from the field. If these calls are unsuccessful, we can request another call to the seminary from the 2018 graduating class.

While disappointing, we must trust God and His plan for our church in finding a good match for a future Pastor.

In His Service,
The Call Committee.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask anyone on the Call Committee:
Dave Anderson, Annemarie Contino, Taylor Gavin, Doug Laabs, Dave Maulding, Anthony Payne, and Pete Walker.
