Take It With You!

During this series please consider reading through the first three chapters of Revelation daily with your family or on your own. After each sermon, questions will be provided to guide your reading and prayer time. God's blessings in your study!

1. In Revelation 3:1 Jesus says that the church in Sardis has the reputation of being spiritually alive but they are actually spiritually dead. Read John 15:1-8. Who gives life to the church? Read Matthew 16:18. Who does Jesus tell Peter will build the church? (Here's a hint, it isn't Peter!). In light of your answers, what might constitute a dead church?

2. Jesus promises those who overcome that they will walk with Him dressed in white robes. What do the white robes represent and how does one become clothed in these robes (Read Galations 3:26-27, Ephesians 5:26, Titus 3:5, 1 Peter 3:18-22, and Revelation 7:13-17)?

3. Jesus also speaks of the "book of life." This calls to mind Moses, when he was pleading for the Israelites in Exodus 32:15-35. They had built a false idol and Moses prayed that the Lord would forgive them, and if the Lord would not forgive them, Moses offered his life for the sake of this people. He said, "But now, please forgive their sin-- but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written." But, instead, the Lord blots out those who sinned, not Moses. How does Moses act like Jesus here? Note how Christ is greater than Moses as His sacrifice makes those names "unblottable!" (Revelation 3:5)
