Galatians Dictionary
Here are some key words you will need to know as you read through this book.
Law - Anything commanded by God. This includes all those laws presented in the Old Testament. In Galatians, Paul argues that the Law cannot make one righteous or justify them.
Gospel - The good news that God has graciously and freely sent to Christ to forgive my sins and justify me. The Gospel declares that I am forgiven and free from the Law's condemnations because of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
Justification - To be declared or counted as righteous before God. In Galatians, Paul teaches that we are justified by grace and not works of the law.
Righteousness - To be in the proper relationship with God. Our right relationship with God is given to us as a gift and is in no way earned.
Faith - To trust that God freely and graciously saves me because Jesus suffered, died, and rose for me.
