Ephesians Part 4:
Tearing Down Walls

Ephesians 2:11-22

Pastor Bob Hiller
4/20/2008

[R]emember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:12-13

I. For those who don't know Christ, they are not a part of the __________ of ________. So Christ comes to adopt them into the family.

II. The promises and covenants made to Israel in the Old Testament were fulfilled in Christ and now the benefits of that fulfillment are given to ________ and __________ alike.

III. Christ came for Jews and Gentiles. And he came for Gentiles from every ________, ________, and __________. He came for everyone!

Take It With You!

During this series please consider reading through the book of Ephesians daily with your family or on your own. After each sermon, questions will be provided to guide your reading and prayer time. God's blessings in your study!

1. Read through Ephesians 2:11-22. How does someone become a member of the family of God?

2. Too often we find divisions in the church based on differences among people. How do these verses speak to such situations? What creates peace and unity in the church?

3. In the Old Testament, God dwelt in the temple in Jerusalem and that is where he was worshipped. Read Ephesians 2:19-22. Where (or who!) is the temple now? Read also Matthew 12:6 and John 4:19-24.
